It is my pleasure to introduce you to the Bahia Sail Racing Association (BSRA).
BSRA is a nonprofit public benefit corporation formed to provide support to outstanding young sailors. BSRA will provide financial support for BCYC Distinguished Racing Members, BCYC Racing Members, the BCYC Junior Racing Team, and the UCI Sailing Team.
Our charter is to both support the outstanding individuals participating in such groups, and to raise BCYC's prestige in the yachting community by enhancing the opportunities for deserving young sailors to compete at the highest levels. This financial support will result through (tax deductible) cash donations. We may also accept donated boats and equipment if they can be utilized at the time of their donation.
Our cadre of Distinguished Racing Members competes at national and international levels and are either winning or placing near the top of highly competitive fleets on the world-class scale. In separate efforts, two from this group are engaged in campaigns to qualify for the U. S. Olympic Sailing Team in the 2008 Summer Games in Beijing. Both are very near the top of the U.S. Star fleet and have a superb shot at qualifying.
Additionally, our Racing Members regularly compete in a variety of prestigious regattas. And, in the last two or three years our BCYC Junior Program has matured most impressively, and we now see the Junior Racing Team rapidly becoming more visible in the Southern California racing community.
As you see, our sailors are out there representing our club both in Southern California, and beyond — all very exciting. Our support will be, now more than ever, both welcome and vital for their future.
Naturally, the financial resources necessary to sustain these efforts are substantial. We invite you to join in the support of this effort. For your convenience enclosed is a postage-paid return envelope for any donation you care to make. You'll hear more of our activities in the coming months.
Please ask questions of me, or of any of those involved with our organization.
Sincerely,
Doug Mills, President
