How To Request Financial Support

BSRA Funding Guidelines:

The guidelines below set forth the priorities of the Bahia Sail Racing Association (BSRA), in its consideration of applications for funding.

  1. BSRA provides funding for the promotion of amateur sports competition, including but not limited to the funding of aquatic educational programs, amateur sailing training, amateur sailing competition, aquatic safety programs, amateur athletic programs, acquisition and maintenance of amateur athletic equipment and educational equipment, marine ecology programs, and marine environment programs primarily in the vicinity of Southern California, all within the meaning of Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
  2. BSRA's funding activities include the support of sailing activities of the Bahia Corinthian Yacht Club (BCYC) Junior Racing Team, their Distinguished Racing Members and Racing Members, and the UCI Sailing Team.
  3. Our priority is to provide funds that are essential to the participation in prestigious regattas and sailing events. Applicants must describe why BSRA funds are vital to them, and the role the funds will play in the event. We reserve the right to request evidence that the funds were indeed expended for the purpose described in the application.
  4. In additional to funding for participation in sailing activities, BSRA will consider requests for funds to purchase sails or other equipment vital to amateur sailing activities and programs.
  5. BSRA generally will not provide funds that supplement ongoing, standing budgets. Examples include contributions to the annual budget of the BCYC Junior Program, or to the annual budget of the UCI Sailing Team. Our funding is targeted to specific activities and needs, with the aim of enhancing sailing activities beyond the level that can be achieved within ongoing budgets.

Requests for financial support may be submitted by BCYC Distinguished Racing Members, BCYC Racing Members, the BCYC Junior Racing Team, and the UCI Sailing Team.
